METAMORPHOSIS

Intensive contemporary dance course and choreographycal residency given by  Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich, focused on generating a process of exploration of movement and choreography, using a personal methodology: METAMORPHOSIS METHOD, built from the artistic experience of the choreographers, supported by an impeccable international career.

Within this process the participants from different nationalities are provided by a specific improvisation and creative procedure, all in order to result in a final creation.

This process aims to:

  • Working intensively and be part of a choreographycal creation with Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich.

  • Present the results to the public in various conventional and unconventional spaces.

  • Generate links between international artists.

  • Produce dance related works in collaborations with local artists.

  • Develop the artistic potential of each participant.

  • Motivating the institutional environment to grow the possibilities of promoting research and artistic exploration through such international meetings.

ENCOUNTER

ENCOUNTER is the name of all the activities such as presentations, installations, and interventions that are made  in the cultural spaces of the city within the METAMORPHOSIS INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCY frame.

In specific occasions the cultural spaces are used to create a video art specifically designed for the space.

Iratxe and Igor create the platform where the national and international artists get together, but also coordinates directly each of them, in the dance studio and on the spot.

Here we list few of them:

GUGGENHEIM -BILBAO

SOUMAYA - MEXICO

SAN TELMO -    SAN SEBASTIAN

CHILLIDA LEKU - SAN SEBASTIAN

MATADERO - MADRID

CENART -            MEXICO

IDEA A

NO BUDGET PROPOSAL

Depending on what spaces we could access we could design a specific intervention.

The happening could be in the same space or divided in multiple areas.

If the theatre could be available we could finish the session with a showing in the theatre.

The performance will consist in 2 parts:

  1. a guided improvisation based on our improvisation technique form the METAMORPHOSIS METHOD

  2. a showing of a part of the creation that we will be creating during the residency.

1 or max. 2 run in the same day.

Duration: 40 to 60 minutes each run.

Dancers: 15 to 25 nationals and internationals

Technical requirements: a sound system connectable with a mini jack cable and possibly a microphone.

Dates: 1 to 3 days in the period from 24/7 to 3/8

IDEA C

BUDGET REQUIRED

Iratxe and Igor could be performing themselves.

The performance could be divided in 2 parts:

  1. two solos in different areas of the museum.

  2. performance in the theatre (their last creation).

Iratxe and Igor latest creation will be based on classical music.

1 or max. 2 run in the same day.

Duration: 40 minutes each run.

Dancers: Iratxe Ansa & Igor Bacovich

Technical requirements: sound system, light designer, technicians to  operate the theatre.

Budget: to be discussed.

Dates: 1 to 7 days in the period from 3/7 to 16/7

IDEA B

BUDGET REQUIRED DUE TO TECHNICAL SIDE

As in the previous idea we could have a first part of the happening with various dancers placed in multiple areas of the museum.

In the main space (where the main dance will be) we could have a projector directed to a wall that could show visually the inputs and signs that we usually give  as improvisations tools from METAMORPHOSIS METHOD.

The inputs will be body parts, colors, images and sensations. The text accompanying the images will be in both English and Chinese.

One dancer will be on the space and will react to those inputs live.

The performance/installation will continue with only one dancer for 20 minutes or half an hour and than one by one  all the rest of the dancers will step in.

In this way we will see how the first performer will go in the beginning working on the tasks that the projection will instruct and as the time will pass the audience will see how this physical and mental work will lead him to a specific and creative state.

When the rest of the dancers will step in the audience will notice how adding inputs to the space will alterate the mechanism.

We could take care of the visual side (creating the images and text that will appear in the projections).

The sound and video could be operated from a technician under the instruction of Iratxe and Igor.

1 or max. 2 run in the same day.

Duration: 40 to 60 minutes each run.

Dancers: 15 to 25 nationals and internationals

Technical requirements: to be discussed.

Dates: 1 to 3 days in the period from 24/7 to 3/8
